Being family oriented, the start of this company was something Glen and Robbie could enjoy together, both on and off the bike. They are a father and son company who have shared a passion for cycling together for the past 14 years. Both Glen and Robbie started to race time trials four years later. After Glen purchased a Trek Speed Concept they started to play with carbon fiber to try to make their bikes look more sleek and aerodynamic. Carbon fiber is a light weight and ridged type of material able to withstand more pressure and weight compared to other material. People started to notice their after market parts at the following races and were very curious about them. They then started to produce crank covers and cable covers for the mass market. They also create functional items for the needs of triathletes and cyclist. Since the development of their idea it has caught on with people worldwide. Professional triathlete, Nicolas Hemet and former Indycar racer and avid triathlete, Tony Kanaan are just a few of many who have purchased items from Alden Carbon.
After developing a passion for cycling and bicycles, Glen got more interested in the mechanics of the machine. His career involving engine designing and CNC machining has given him the ability to carry out his idea of creating useful tools and parts. His has passion for making eye-catching and useful parts out of carbon fiber. He has been racing bikes for about 10 years. His first love for cycling was time trials. He has since developed a passion for cyclocross. He has enjoyed passing along his love for the sport to his son, Robbie, who competes in cyclocross as well.
Growing up around bicycles from the age of 10 with a father on a mission to get back in shape, Robbie found himself enjoying the sport as well as a common interest with his father. He has been an avid cyclist who has been racing for eight years. His background as an engine assembler in the automotive field has given the duo some insight on design and mass production. One of his first jobs as an adolescence was working in a local bicycle shop where he gained knowledge on how to repair a variety of bicycles. In his free time he enjoys working and tinkering on all kinds of bikes. He is excited to pass along the passion for the sport and love of riding to his son, Henry, who is one and enjoys the time spent with his father in the comfort of his bike trailer.
